Considerations about the first writing assignment:
The first assignment was fun to write, I was really eager to talk about my experience reading and re writing The Undefeated by Ernest Hemingway and sharing the whole process was really a good way to consider the positive outcome of it.
I was a bit concerned about making my point clear that I wasn’t copying Hemingway or plagiarizing his work. I just wanted to use it to learn more about the craft of writing and trying to find a good way to work on my inspiration and techniques. I am still a little bit concerned because I am not entirely sure where I am supposed to publish the assignment. Does it go on the diary? Does it need another page in my wix site? I am not entirely sure.
Right now the main literacies, or at least the ones that I use the most are audiobooks and podcasts are the main source for relevant communication in my life. I work as a deliver driver, therefor I spend many hours in my car and using audiobooks is a fine way to make time to read. Some people argue that listening to a book is not the same experience as reading it, but I tell you what, for me is a great way to make the best use of my limited time and still find the story telling enjoyable and rewardable.
Podcasts right now are an awesome way for sharing ideas, lifestyles, cultural and social information. I listen to a couple of them, but the one I listen to most is The Joe Rogan Experience, he is perhaps the most famous podcaster right now and that is for a very good reason: his guest are wide, excellent and relevant people from many sectors of the social and political arena and he lets them talk. It is educational and entertaining without political commitments of any kinds.
I also use twitter, Instagram and Facebook a lot. And while I admit they are fun to use and a good way to stay up to date, they are also dangerous platforms. Not only they are prone to make you waste excessive time checking them out, they are also full of misinformation, bias opinions, and basically structure to make people argue rather than understand each other.
I also have a podcast of my own, it is called DILO FUERTE, which is Spanish for: SAY IT LOUD. I have published 5 episodes with a very positive response, so far we have talked about the Pandemic, Racism, Politics, Using Martial Arts a source of work discipline and crafting and creating web content. I hope to continue producing it in the future.
Most of the things I learned about writing come from learning Latin at school that gave me the ability to organize sentences in the right way and play with its composition. Working in advertising also gave me a lot of tools for crafting persuasive texts and evoke emotions trough pictures, sound and video. I had great teachers in the business like Sergio Romero and Virgina Contreras, they are very famous in the advertising business in Madrid. But the most I learned came from watching advertising samples and productions from all over the world.
