I use twitter every day, usually to talk about politics, entertainment, daily hustle and the occasional satirical joke or comment on the daily events. Via Twitter I have around 300 followers, and they all seem very diverse. There is people from all over the world, all ages, different social status. Some of them are family, some of them are friends, and some of them are colleagues. But I usually write my messages with the same tone and humor as I was talking to a near friend. This may be fun, but it can be a bit shocking for those who knows me in a more respectful or distant set up, like work. I am really serious and distant at the office, while I am very humorous and close on social media.
Sometimes, when I talk about politics, I often try to convince the other their arguments are wrong. Sometimes I use good means of communications, sometimes I simply argue. And sometimes I troll or ridicule the individual if their interactions are out of touch with reality, which seems to be a common factor in today’s political landscape on twitter.
I guess, if I want to expand the invoked audience, I should use always a respectful tone, trying to complete my opinions with facts or at links to evidence that sustain what I am trying to say. It should be wise to stop sharing memes or graphic material that is done with the sole intention of mocking the person that doesn’t think like me.
